At last discerning football fans can wear their colours in style with the launch of Savile Rogue, a new collection of luxury football scarves made from the finest Scottish cashmere wool. This new cashmere range takes football club apparel into the luxury arena and is the epitome of understated style. The scarves come in the classic bar stripe design which dates back to the 1930s and feature no club names and logos.

Taking inspiration from football’s heritage, each scarf comes with its own ‘cigarette card’ swing-tag featuring original football illustrations from the ‘30s. The scarves come beautifully packaged in individual boxes and make a perfect gift for urbane football fans. Paddy Barnes, founder of Savile Rogue said: “It costs up to £50 to watch a Premiership game, but club scarves are still made in cheap synthetic fabrics with large logos and crests.

Now football fans have something very stylish to keep their necks warm, and because they don't carry a logo you can wear it to the game or out on any occasion.” Savile Rogue scarves are available in the colours of most Premiership, Championship and League 1 and 2 clubs, as well as some Scottish and European teams. Football support has been steadily going upmarket since stadiums were made all-seater in the early 1990’s.

Premiership clubs now derive a large portion of their income from premium and executive seats – a season ticket in Arsenal’s Diamond Club costs £12,500 a year. Savile Rogue is a London based company started by Paddy Barnes – a football fan who launched the business after unsuccessfully trying to buy a cashmere football scarf as a present for a friend. The scarves, made in one of Scotland’s oldest cashmere mills, are exclusively available through the Savile Rogue website which went live at the end of 2006.
