You can bet they will all come on the Coaster, at least the Coaster will have ridership on game day. The only good reason I can think of to support this proposal is that Sanchez opposes it! Use the Proposed Stadium Parking During the Week wrote on March 12, 2007 11:54 PM: Qualcom operates as a giant park and ride during the week, would be great for commuters to LA and San Diego if a rail went to the stadium

Just go away. Your crazy notion of putting that stupid stadium on that little golf course will do nothing but ruin my beautiful Fire Mountain neighborhood, kill my property values those of my friends/neighbors and make driving down Oceanside Blvd even more unbearable than it already is. NO THANKS!
To Floyd wrote on March 13, 2007 7:47 AM: Boy did you hit the nail on the head. I completely missed out on the festivities last July 4th because I couldn't find parking and these yahoo's think they can accommodate a stadium. Don't think so!

. driving around o'side. the point of off-site coaster and other parking is to reduce the number of vehicles that would need to drive into o'side on game day.
this happens quite a bit with the new padre stadium. also, the giants ball park in downtown s.f.
relies heavily on mass transit. it was built with less parking than the s.f.
code would have otherwise req'd. it works just fine.
Fabiani-take your Circus elsewhere wrote on March 13, 2007 8:30 AM: Fabiani and the Chargers -GET LOST!
WE don't have the parking and it does not fit into to our town. We are a town of beaches , surfing and boaing. And it is developing into a very up scale place to live.
Why make it into a circus with a stadium! Go up to Anaheim! I am tired of Fabiani taking advantage of our city council people.
The Charger people are big shot wheelers and dealers and our Council is being duped. In a few years they will move on-looking for another town-who will be foolish enough to have them. Beware it will cost Oceanside dearly!
Go Chargers wrote on March 13, 2007 8:56 AM: The bottleneck is going to be the single-track line that extends from the Oceanside Transit station to where the proposed stadium is planned. Why? In order to accommodate an additional track (or two) the I-5 bridge span crossing Oceanside Blvd would need to be expanded.
I don't think Fabiani and Co. would be willing to foot that bill. They almost would be better off building more parking structures in downtown O'side similar to what San Diego is doing and then have a monorail system similar to Las Vegas to transport people from downtown O'side to the stadium.
In a magical world, the monorail could be elevated over the freeway. Pony up Oceanside wrote on March 13, 2007 9:43 AM: The San Diego bill for Qualcomm is over $400,000 this year, and that's after a record setting season with full attendance. Maybe Oceanside won't have to pay to build a stadium, but boy are these rubes going to be on the hook for expenses after that.
Sanchez was right to change her mind, but the others seem bent on putting Oceanside permanently in the red.

That golf course is crap. Why not build it up and put Oceanside on the map. If the Chargers want to come here great.
I applaud the Council for even trying to get them here.
To re:Floyd wrote on March 13, 2007 10:30 AM: The nimby's whine because they don't want this to ruin their neighborhood for good reason. Everyone else will vote for it, not because it's a good idea or good use of the golf course, but because they don't live by it and won't be affected by it.
Either way someone is going to get the shaft. The only question is whether it will be those in the immediate vicinity or the city who will be nailed to the wall for all eternity with the nightmares guaranteed to follow such a project.

Do you want 'CHARGER' traffic at Mira Costa/ Palomar? CSSM? Would you fight that traffic to go to Home Depot, OR Carlsbad Mall, NOT ME.
Of course 'they' don't mind putting those business out of business because IT ALL ABOUT THE CHARGERS, (that means Spanos dollars) Of course if you read the article neither would the charger people, notice they stay in STOCKTON. There is NO upside to having the chargers in O'side if you live in the area. NONE.
Lets say you make 100K a yr. you can walk by one of the Spanos homes on the 18th fairway of Pebble Beach when you pay $400+ for a round of golf, he can fly you there in his private jet,yet he wants you to buy him a stadium, with retail, so he can bring you 8 football games, then ruin your lifestyle with mototcycle races, soccer riots, let not forget rock concerts, not to mention the prostitution opportunies (see they say it will bring in jobs.) Be prepared to double your police force.
To even think of this deal, the city council should be drug tested. Lets see, playoff team and it still cost SD how much? Notice the Chargers said if the City didn't maintain a 'state of the art' stadium, they would SUE the city.
Can O'side even afford the law suits that would surely follow? They started out as the LA Chargers, that has a good ring to me, Think I'll go to Sears at the Mall and buy a wide screen TV be done with it.

If you want to know what the traffic will be like when the Chargers are playing, just see what it's like on the evening of July 4th. And you're right -- folks can't take mass transit because it is inconvenient, slow, and doesn't go where you want to go. Qualcomm stadium can hold 71,500 fans.
If that seating capacity was duplicated in Oceanside, it would require 159 Sprinter trains (that's 79.5 hours at 2 trains per hour, more than 3 days) to handle the load. Another sprinter line?
